Sport has a power to foster inclusion and community spirit.
38 inspiring athletes from Team Munster will proudly represent Horizons at the Special Olympics, Ireland Summer Games 2026 in Dublin. This Ireland’s largest inclusive sporting event takes place 18th–21st June. Over 1,200 athletes compete across 12 sports over four action-packed days.
To mark this incredible achievement, our Sports and Physical Activity Department hosted a send-off celebration yesterday alongside their families and supporters.
“We are so proud of the 38 athletes representing Horizons on Team Munster in the Special Olympics. They are supported by their families, their coaches, and by all of us in Horizons as they head off to compete. It means so much to us to be able to support them and we wish them the very best of luck and fun in their competitions.” – Lorraine Egan, CEO of Horizons.
A massive thank you to the families, Horizons staff and the coaches whose passion and support have empowered these athletes to reach this stage. The will be participating in Athletics, Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Football, golf, Motor Activity Training Programme (MATP) and Swimming.
