Philomena O’Brien, a person supported by Horizons, shared: “Taking part in the Echo Women’s Mini Marathon means a lot to me. It’s not just about running, it’s about showing people what we can do when we’re given the chance… I feel proud, strong and included.”
Marguerite O’Brien, Interim CEO of Horizons, said: “The Echo Women’s Mini Marathon means so much to us as an organisation. Staff, people we support, families and friends get involved and it brings a real sense of community. It’s not just about getting fit or fundraising; it’s about ensuring the people we support are seen, valued and fully part of society.”
Rachel Palmer, Senior Dietitian with Horizons, added: “The right nutrition can empower people to feel stronger, more energised and ready to take on challenges they never thought possible. The Echo Women’s Mini Marathon is a chance to celebrate that… Whether you’re walking, jogging, or running, you’re showing up for people with disabilities and helping build a future where everyone can thrive.”
‘Horizons’ is a change in perspective and is about focusing on the possibilities, the ambition, the personal goals and the future of everyone we support.
Last year, our team raised more than €4,500 from this event, which went towards specific housing projects to empower people to live in their own home and be part of their chosen community.
Join us in building a more inclusive future where every individual is visible and valued. We’d love to have you on our team!
